Nina is 16 years old, and a sophomore in high school. Along with the rest of her family, she is very involved with mountain bike racing. Her passion for the sport began in 2005 when she entered her very first bike race, The Jr. Keweenaw Chain Drive Festival. Excited to get third place in her age group, she continued racing the local Junior events and continued to place well in her age group. Since 2007 she has been racing the adult (15 mile) races.
Her most recent (2009) exciting race results include: 3rd Woman-Overall in both the Great Deer Chase in Calumet, MI and the Seeley PreFat in Seeley, WI and 2nd Woman-Overall in the Tour Da Woods in Munising, MI.
Nina's favorite training ground is the Michigan Tech trail system along with the many other trail systems in the Houghton, MI area. She trains multiple times a week with the Keweenaw Cycling Club and also schedules time for her local bike shop's weekly ride.
Other sports that Nina enjoys include running, kayaking, and cross country skiing. She has been an active part of the Copper Country Ski Tigers since 2005 and is now on the Ski Tigers High School Race Team.
Nina is very excited to be a recipient of The Endurance Trust Youth Scholarship Award for the 2010 racing calendar. She looks forward to supporting the fight against pediatric brain tumors and representing The Endurance Trust.
